As a group of God's people, we care about you and your family and we are here, not only to feed
you spiritually, but to also help in any way we can. We love doing it and it's why we exist.
The Apostolic Church Nigeria, Akoka Assembly started in 1962 with a total membership of ten (10) in a
shop belonging to late Deaconess E. T. Ogunbanwo of No. 29, Solanke Street, Akoka. Today the
average attendance on Sundays is not less than five hundred (500). The first full time minister
was Worker (now Pastor) J. O. Abiola who was succeeded by late Worker Adegbenro. Worker J. O.
Abiola was ably assisted by Late Pastor M. A. Olabintan who was then a deacon. Later Overseer
J. O. Bankole joined the two fathers in 1968 when he moved to his permanent house in Akoka from
Mushin No. 2 Assembly. The three were soon joined by late Presiding Elders Ibidapo, Ogieriakhi
and Elder Ojetunde.
Late Presiding Elder Ibidapo who was a brother then, was a gifted church musician. He took over
the leadership of the choir from Late Pastor M. A. Olabintan. On the 6th April, 1975, in a
combined service at Ebute Meta, J. O. Bankole, M. A.Olabintan and E. O. Ogieriakhi were amongst the
elders that were anointed by our late father, Pastor S. G. Adegboyega. This gave Akoka her first
set of elders. In the year 1980, the first set of deacons and deaconesses were also appointed.
As a result of our relentless evangelical activities, Akoka Assembly gave birth to nine sister
assemblies of which two districts namely Abayomi and Ariyo are carved out.
All glory be to God, for great things He hath done. His name be praised for He is great in the
midst of His people. Akoka Assembly grew from a shop to a bold off of 10ft by 15ft, to a
bungalow and finally to a full building of two floors with a duplex mission house, recently
renovated to a 21st century masterpiece to position us for the end-time evangelism.
